Gresham History Week is a summer festival for all ages! Explore events, games, tours, and activities all over the Gresham area while learning about the history all around us. History Week commemorates the 250th anniversary of American independence by celebrating what makes Gresham unique — its people!

Schedule is subject to change. Please check this page as event approaches.
Programs will include a city-wide scavenger hunt, live music, street fairs, interactive living history performances, arts demonstrations, history talks, a trivia night/historical costume competition, tours (guided and self-guided), exhibits, and much more.
History Week holds opportunities for people of all ages to have fun, learn, and connect with the community!
A series of mini-exhibits will be available in public venues around town.
Team up with friends and family to compete in a city-wide scavenger hunt! Your team will hunt for historic sites and accomplish tasks, uncovering Gresham's past in the process. Prizes are in store for the winners...
How much do you know about the Northwest Neighborhood, one of Gresham's oldest districts? Starting at Bella Vista Park, this tour will take you to the neighborhood's most historic homes. Presented in collaboration with the City of Gresham planning department.
Teens and young adults are invited to test their history knowledge. The pizza is free, but you'll have to work for the prizes. Best historical costume wins a History Week t-shirt!
On Third Thursday, Downtown Gresham becomes a carnival reminiscent of the old Multnomah County Fair - a Gresham tradition from 1907 to 1969. With artist booths, carnival games, and a history talk by our own Anne Endicott, this will be an evening to remember.
This annual festival takes place at Vance Park, celebrating the end of slavery in the U.S. and bringing the community of Rockwood together. Organized by Play Grow Learn, LLC.
Meet important people from Gresham's past - a Prohibition-skirting saloon keeper, a one-armed teacher, a colorful postmistress, and others - and learn their stories. These historic figures will be out and about in Downtown Gresham, but if you find them all, you'll earn a prize. This event is free and kid-friendly.
Traditional artisans demonstrate their skills at this day-long event, which will close History Week. Explore artist booths and traveling exhibits from local arts and cultural organizations. At this event you'll get to experience how arts connect us with those who came before.

America 250 Oregon Commission coordinates, provides guidance, and ensures that Oregon’s observance of the 250th anniversary of our country's founding is inclusive and shares the histories of Oregon’s diverse populations, including the histories of the Indigenous peoples who have resided here since time immemorial.
Join us for upcoming events, including lectures, tours, and fundraisers. Monthly history talks, walking tours of historic cemeteries, and family-friendly workshops are just some of what we have to offer.
